Singapore Airlines (シンガポール航空)

Singapore's national carrier and one of the world's most celebrated full-service airlines, a Star Alliance member. Singapore Airlines operates Japan as one of its most important international markets, with connections from Changi to Tokyo (Narita and Haneda), Osaka (Kansai), Fukuoka, Sapporo (seasonal), and Nagoya.

Singapore Airlines restored its Japan network progressively from late 2022, with full frequency recovery by mid-2023. Scoot (スクート)

Singapore Airlines Group's medium and long-haul low-cost carrier. Scoot has been the most active airline in growing Singapore's LCC coverage of Japan, with routes to Narita, Kansai, Fukuoka, Okinawa, Sapporo, and — in an expansion reflecting mature bilateral demand — Haneda and Sendai.

Singapore–Haneda (HND): Scoot added Tokyo Haneda to its network, complementing the existing Narita (NRT) service. Haneda's central location (accessible to inner Tokyo by monorail and Keikyu line) makes it preferred for many travelers over the more distant Narita. Scoot's Haneda slots give Singaporean budget travelers direct access to central Tokyo at LCC prices — previously only possible via Narita or by transiting.

Singapore–Sendai (SDJ): A significant new route for Southeast Asia–Japan connectivity. Sendai is Tohoku's main gateway city — a region rich in onsen, natural scenery (Matsushima, Zao fox village), sake brewing, and cultural tourism. The direct Singapore–Sendai connection is among the first regular LCC services from Southeast Asia to Tohoku, making the region more accessible to independent Singaporean travelers who previously needed to transit through Tokyo.

Scoot operates an Airbus A320/A321 fleet on Japan routes, with ScootPlus (premium economy) available as an upgrade. Its frequent promotions and Singapore Airlines group reliability make it the default LCC choice for Singapore–Japan travel.

Jetstar Asia (ジェットスター・アジア)

Jetstar's Singapore-based subsidiary (SIA has a stake in Jetstar Asia), operating short to medium-haul budget flights from Changi. Jetstar Asia flies to Narita, Kansai, and Nagoya from Singapore — with the Nagoya route (Chubu Centrair, NGO) providing a direct link to Japan's third-largest metropolitan area that bypasses Tokyo or Osaka.

For Singaporeans visiting central Japan — Nagoya, Gifu, Kyoto, Nara, and parts of the Japan Alps — the direct Changi–Nagoya service offers a convenient landing point. Jetstar's fares compete with Scoot on the Singapore–Japan budget market, giving travelers choice between two quality LCCs.
